behavior. They can answer this question.
Some scientists watch animals in the wild.
Others see how people’s pets act. Still others
watch zoo animals. They see how the animals
behave. Is the animal comfortable in its zoo
home? Does it eat enough? How does it get
along with other animals?
At one zoo, a polar bear seemed upset.
He swam up and down his pool all day.
Scientists watched the bear for several days.
They took notes. They decided to give the bear
more toys. They played games with him.
