Cam was unhappy. He would be in the

hospital for many weeks. He had a

tube in his throat. He could not

talk. How could he tell his

mom or dad that he wanted

something? How could he

talk with friends?

One day a nurse had an

idea. She found a special

tool for him to use. Cam’s

eyes lit up when she gave it to

him. The tool looked like a

computer keyboard with a

screen. Cam typed a word. He

typed a sentence. Then he pushed

a button. The computer said what

Cam typed!
