Mrs. Cook is the kindest neighbor
ever. Dan’s mom got sick, and Mrs.
Cook brought dinner. The family’s
car broke down. Mrs. Cook took
Dan to soccer practice. Dan starred
in the school play. Mrs. Cook sewed
his costume.
One day, Dan said, “How can I help
Mrs. Cook? I can’t cook or drive or sew.”
“You could carry her groceries,” Mom said.
“She shops when I’m at school,” Dan said.
“You could pick up her newspaper,” Mom said.
“She gets it while I’m sleeping,” Dan said.
“You could share some of our cake,” Mom said.
“She never eats sweets,” Dan said.
